• Brush out extensions with an WET brush before getting into the shower. This helps to prevent tangles and matting.
• Use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to prolong your hair color and the extension color as well. I recommend kerastase Genesis line. You can purchase any one of your favorite lines of Kerastase here at Sage HairCo.
• Gently shampoo your natural hair and between your rows, no need for vigorous scrubbing. I suggest to double shampoo so you remove all dirt and oils.
• Apply conditioner using a wet brush to evenly distribute product. I really like the Wet Brush Pro Flex Dry.
• Weekly masks are helpful to keep your hair nourished and vibrant. Check out the Masque Extentioniste Hair Mask .
• Be sure to rinse well leaving no product behind.
• Using a Wet Brush, start from the ends of your hair and work your way up. Once you reach the top of the weft, stop brushing.
• I like to clip everything up except your natural hair underneath your bottom row, and start your brushing with that.
• Next, drop down your bottom row and brush that out.
• Next, drop out your natural hair in between the two rows, and brush that out.
• Next, drop out your top row and brush that out.
• Finally, drop out your natural that is on top to complete the brushing process.
• Apply a heat protectant ALWAYS. I recommend, ILES FORMULA Haute Performance Finishing Serum.
• Leave in conditioners and oil are going to be your best friend. I recommend Davines OI Oil or UNITE Hair Blonda Oil
• Rough dry your hair 80% of the way (No tugging at the extensions with a round brush or comb. Use only your hands and fingers.)
• For a faster blow dry, section out each row and rough dry them separately.
• Rough dry your hair 80% of the way (meaning no tugging on the extensions with a round brush, just use your hands / fingers). IMPORTANT - This applies to DRY BARS as well. Make sure to communicate to whoever is styling your hair to NOT USE a round brush on your extensions. You can use round brush to gently smooth over your hair and the extensions the last few minutes of blow drying, with little tension.
• If curling hair run the curling iron through your extensions a couple passes before curling. It gives the extensions a more polished look and prolongs the life of your extensions (360 highest heat setting).
• Before bed brush your hair out and put it in a loose pony or braids while sleeping.
• Always make sure you are going to bed with DRY hair.
• Use silk scrunchies and silk pillow cases.
• Never let sunscreen or suntan oil touch your extensions, it will cause them to turn a peach color (especially blondes).
